(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِمُحَمَّدٍ ، وَلَا تُشْرِكْ فِي رَحْمَتِكَ إِيَّانَا أَحَدًا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ قَائِلُهَا ؟ " فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَقَدْ حَجَبْتَهُنَّ عَنْ نَاسٍ كَثِيرٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the court of the Messenger and began to supplicate: "O Allah, forgive me and Muhammad (peace be upon him), and do not include anyone else with us in Your mercy." The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Who is making this supplication?" The man replied, "It is I." The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "You have confined a very vast thing (this supplication) to a few people."
