(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ سَيْفٍ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تَمُرُّ بِنَا جَنَازَةُ الْكَافِرِ ، أَفَنَقُومُ لَهَا ؟ َقَالَ : " نَعَمْ قُومُوا لَهَا ، فَإِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ تَقُومُونَ لَهَا ، إِنَّمَا تَقُومُونَ إِعْظَامًا لِلَّذِي يَقْبِضُ النُّفُوسَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man asked the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, "O Messenger of Allah! If the funeral of a disbeliever passes by us, should we stand up?" The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "Yes, you should stand up at that time as well. You are not standing for the disbeliever; you are standing in respect of the One who seizes the soul."
