Hadith 6471

(حديث مرفوع) قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أَبِي : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْخَيَّاطُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : إِنْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَأْمُرُنَا بِالتَّخْفِيفِ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيَؤُمُّنَا بِالصَّافَّاتِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to command us to perform short prayers, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself, while leading us in prayer, would suffice with (a few verses) from Surah As-Saffat.
