Hadith 6460

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : أَوَّلُ صَدَقَةٍ كَانَتْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ صَدَقَةُ عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " احْبِسْ أُصُولَهَا ، وَسَبِّلْ ثَمَرَتَهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the very first charity in Islam was that which Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Keep its original property with you and give its profits in charity."
