Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) reported that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was on a journey. One of his students dismounted from his mount to pray Witr, so he asked him, “What is the matter? Why did you not remain mounted?” He replied, “I want to pray Witr.” Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Is there not for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example?”
