Hadith 6439

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةً ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The night prayer consists of two rak'ahs at a time, and when you fear that dawn is approaching, then add one rak'ah to these two, for indeed Allah is Odd and He loves the odd number."
