(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، وَعَفَّانُ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ , سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْجِعِرَّانَةِ , فَقَالَ : إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَذَرْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَنْ أَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ ؟ قَالَ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ وَمَعَهُ غُلَامٌ مِنْ سَبْيِ هَوَازِنَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " اذْهَبْ فَاعْتَكِفْ " ، فَذَهَبَ ، فَاعْتَكَفَ ، فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ يُصَلِّي إِذْ سَمِعَ النَّاسَ , يَقُولُونَ : أَعْتَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْيَ هَوَازِنَ ، فَدَعَا الْغُلَامَ فَأَعْتَقَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that at Ji‘irrana, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "In the days of ignorance, I had made a vow to perform i‘tikaf in Masjid al-Haram.?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to fulfill his vow, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) set out from there. While he was still praying, he heard people saying that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had freed the captives of Hawazin, so he also freed his own slave.
