Hadith 6403

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا حَسَدَ إِلَّا فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى هَذَا الْكِتَابَ ، فَهُوَ يَقُومُ بِهِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَآنَاءَ النَّهَارِ ، وَرَجُلٌ أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى مَالًا ، فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَآنَاءَ النَّهَارِ " .
This prophetic saying is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that envy (desire) is not permissible except towards two persons: one is the person whom Allah has granted the wealth of the Qur'an and he remains engaged in its recitation day and night; and the other is the person whom Allah has granted wealth and property, and he is made to spend it in the way of truth.
