Hadith 6375

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) combined two prayers only once. The situation was that he received news of the illness of Safiyyah bint Abi Ubayd. He set out after the Asr prayer, left his belongings there, and increased his pace. During the journey, the time for Maghrib prayer arrived. One of his companions drew his attention and said that the time for prayer had come, but he did not reply to him. Another said it, but he did not reply to him either. Even when a third person said it, he did not reply. When it was said a fourth time, he said: “I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that if he was in a hurry while traveling, he would delay this prayer and combine two prayers together.”
