Hadith 631

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَدْ رَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَامَ فَقُمْنَا ، وَقَعَدَ فَقَعَدْنَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that at first we saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) standing out of respect for the funeral, so we also started standing. Later, we saw him sitting, so we also started sitting.
