It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) combined Hajj and Umrah during the Farewell Pilgrimage and set out from Dhul-Hulaifah with the sacrificial animal. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) first donned the Ihram for Umrah and then also made the intention for Hajj. The people did the same; some of them brought sacrificial animals with them and some did not. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah, he said to the people: "Whoever among you has brought a sacrificial animal with him, nothing from the prohibitions of Ihram will be lawful for him until he completes Hajj. And whoever has not brought a sacrificial animal should perform Tawaf of the House of Allah, perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, cut his hair and become halal, and then if he does not find a sacrificial animal, he should fast three days during the days of Hajj and seven days after returning home." Then, when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah and began the Tawaf of the Ka'bah, he first touched the Black Stone, then performed three circuits out of seven briskly and four at his normal pace, then prayed two rak'ahs at the Station of Ibrahim, and after completing the prayer, went to the hill of Safa, performed Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, and did not consider anything from the prohibitions of Ihram lawful for himself until he completed Hajj. On the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah, after offering the sacrifice, he returned to Makkah, performed Tawaf of the House of Allah, and everything became lawful for him. All the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) who had brought sacrificial animals with them did the same.
