Hadith 6246

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ , يَقُولُ : قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ سورة الطلاق آية 1 فِي قُبُلِ عِدَّتِهِنَّ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also recited this verse of Surah Al-Ahzab in this way: O Prophet! (peace and blessings be upon him) When you people wish to divorce your wives, then divorce them at the beginning of their waiting period (meaning to divorce them in the days of purity, not during the days of menstruation).
