Hadith 6235

Ziyad bin Jubair says that a man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked this question while he was walking in Mina: "I have made a vow that I will fast every Tuesday or Wednesday. Now Eid al-Adha has fallen on a Wednesday. What is your opinion?" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: "Allah has commanded the fulfillment of vows, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden us from fasting on the Day of Sacrifice (the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah)." That man thought perhaps Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) had not heard him, so he repeated his question. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) gave the same answer as before and did not add anything to it, until he reached near the mountain and leaned against it.
