It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting, and in his blessed hand was a stick with which he was scratching the ground. After a short while, he raised his head and said: "The abode of every one of you, whether in Paradise or Hell, is already known and determined by Allah." The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Then why should we act?" He said: "Continue to act, for each person will find it easy to do the deeds for which he was created." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of the Qur'an: "So as for he who gives, fears Allah, and affirms the best (truth), We will ease him toward ease. But as for he who withholds, considers himself free of need, and denies the best (truth), We will ease him toward difficulty."
