(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ , كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ الْمُسَافِرِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ؟ فَقَالَ : أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَتَتَّبِعُونَ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ ، وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ لَا تَتَّبِعُونَ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ ، لَمْ أُخْبِرْكُمْ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : فَخَيْرُ السُّنَنِ سُنَّةُ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، فَقَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهَا " .
Bishr bin Harb says that I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that O Abu Abdur Rahman! How is the prayer of a traveler? He replied: If you act upon the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), I will tell you; if not, then I will not tell you. We said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! The best way is indeed the Sunnah of our Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would leave this city, he would not pray more than two rak'ahs until he returned.
