Hadith 6054

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " حَرَّقَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَقَطَّعَ " , وَهِيَ الْبُوَيْرَةُ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً عَلَى أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَلِيُخْزِيَ الْفَاسِقِينَ سورة الحشر آية 5 .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had the trees of Banu Nadir cut down and set them on fire, and on that occasion Allah revealed the verse: "Whatever palm tree you cut down or left standing on its roots, it was by Allah’s command, and so that Allah may disgrace the defiantly disobedient."
