It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the ‘Isha prayer during the last days of his life. When he had finished the prayer with salam, he stood up and said: Remember this night, for after a full hundred years from tonight, none of those who are present on the face of the earth today will remain. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that many people became confused by the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and began to say different things regarding the "hundred years." In reality, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that those who are present on the face of the earth today—and the meaning was that this generation would come to an end (it did not mean that the Day of Judgment would occur a hundred years from today).
