It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be questioned about his flock. Thus, the ruler is responsible for his subjects, and he will be questioned about them. A man is responsible for his household, and he will be questioned about them. A woman is responsible for her husband’s house, and she will be questioned about it. A servant is responsible for his master’s wealth, and he will be questioned about it. I heard these things from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I think the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: A man is responsible for his father’s wealth, and he will be questioned about his responsibility regarding it. In short, each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be questioned about his flock.
