It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a ring made of gold. He would turn its stone towards the palm of his hand. People also had rings made. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw it away while on the pulpit and said: I used to wear this ring and would turn its stone inward. By Allah, I will never wear it again. Consequently, the people also threw away their rings.
