Hadith 6005

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : حَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَحَلَقَ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ، وَقَصَّرَ بَعْضُهُمْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رَحِمَ اللَّهُ الْمُحَلِّقِينَ " مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had his head shaved, while some of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) had their heads shaved and some had their hair shortened. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said once or twice: "May Allah's mercy be upon those who have their heads shaved," then he said: "And also upon those who have their hair shortened."
