(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي الطَّحَّانَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : لَقِينَا الْعَدُوَّ ، فَحَاصَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ حَيْصَةً ، فَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَاصَ ، فَدَخَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ ، قَالَ : فَتَعَرَّضْنَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ خَرَجَ لِلصَّلَاةِ ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، نَحْنُ الْفَرَّارُونَ ، قَالَ : " لَا ، بَلْ أَنْتُمْ الْعَكَّارُونَ ، إِنِّي فِئَةٌ لَكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once we confronted the enemy, and during the battle people became frightened and began to flee; I was among them. We reached Madinah Munawwarah, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out for prayer, we presented ourselves before him and said: O Messenger of Allah! We are those who fled and ran away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather you are those who turn back and attack. I am a group among you."
