(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثِ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : مَا تَقُولُ فِي الصَّوْمِ فِي السَّفَرِ ؟ قَالَ : تَأْخُذُ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ ؟ ! , قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَصَرَ الصَّلَاةَ وَلَمْ يَصُمْ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهَا " .
Bishr bin Harb says that I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about fasting during travel, what do you say about it? He replied, "If I narrate a hadith to you, will you act upon it?" I said, "Yes!" He said, "When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would leave this city, he would shorten the prayer and would not fast until he returned (and would make up the fasts later)."
