Hadith 5563

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا رَجَعَ مِنْ أُحُدٍ ، سَمِعَ نِسَاءَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَبْكِينَ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ ، فَقَالَ : " لَكِنْ حَمْزَةُ لَا بَوَاكِيَ لَهُ " فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ نِسَاءَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَجِئْنَ يَبْكِينَ عَلَى حَمْزَةَ ، قَالَ : فَانْتَبَهَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، فَسَمِعَهُنَّ وَهُنَّ يَبْكِينَ ، فَقَالَ : " وَيْحَهُنَّ ! لَمْ يَزَلْنَ يَبْكِينَ بَعْدُ مُنْذُ اللَّيْلَةِ ؟ ! مُرُوهُنَّ فَلْيَرْجِعْنَ ، وَلَا يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of Uhud, the women of the Ansar began to weep over their husbands. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no one to weep for Hamza." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dozed off, and when he woke up, those women were still weeping in the same way. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Today, they will keep weeping by mentioning Hamza's name. Tell them to go back and not to weep over any deceased person after today."
