Hadith 5536

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ جَبَلَةَ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا " ، وَطَبَّقَ أَصَابِعَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، وَكَسَرَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ الْإِبْهَامَ ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ : تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sometimes the month is like this, like this, and like this." The third time, he (peace be upon him) folded his thumb, meaning twenty-nine (days).
