It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No person should eat from the meat of his sacrificial animal for more than three days." Because of this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would not eat the meat of the sacrificial animal after sunset on the third day. (Later, this ruling was abrogated.)
