Bakr says that once I mentioned to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us this hadith: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) assumed ihram for both Hajj and Umrah? He replied that Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) is mistaken; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) initially assumed ihram for Hajj, and we also assumed ihram for Hajj with him. Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah, he said: "Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him, he should make it Umrah." I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), so he became upset and said: "You consider us to be mere children."
