Hadith 5504

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once I divorced my wife. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about this. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Tell him to take her back, then if he wants to divorce her, he should do so during a period of purity." I asked Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), "Will that divorce be counted?" He replied: "Tell me, do you want to prove him foolish and stupid (why would it not be counted)?"
