Hadith 5503

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عن شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَاسْجُدْ سَجْدَةً ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The night prayer consists of two rak‘ahs at a time. When you fear that morning is near, then add one rak‘ah to these two, and perform two rak‘ahs before Fajr.
