Once, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) instructed a man that when you come to your bed, recite this supplication: O Allah! You created me, You alone will cause me to die, my living and dying is also for You. If You grant me life, then protect it, and if You cause me to die, then forgive me. O Allah, I ask You for well-being. That person asked, "Did you hear this from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He replied, "From the One who was even better than Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that is, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
