Hadith 544

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ شِبْلٍ ، وَغَيْرُهُ ، قَالُوا : " وَلِيَ عُثْمَانُ ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً ، وَكَانَتْ الْفِتْنَةُ خَمْسَ سِنِينَ " .
Umayyah bin Shibl and others say that Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) remained on the throne of caliphate for twelve years, out of which the last five years passed in trial and tribulation.
