(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ مِنْ سَرَايَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَحَاصَ النَّاسُ حَيْصَةً ، وَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَاصَ ، فَقُلْنَا : كَيْفَ نَصْنَعُ وَقَدْ فَرَرْنَا مِنَ الزَّحْفِ وَبُؤْنَا بِالْغَضَبِ ؟ ! ثُمَّ قُلْنَا : لَوْ دَخَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَبِتْنَا ، ثُمَّ قُلْنَا : لَوْ عَرَضْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ تَوْبَةٌ ، وَإِلَّا ذَهَبْنَا ، فَأَتَيْنَاهُ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ ، فَخَرَجَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ الْقَوْمُ ؟ " قَالَ : فَقُلْنَا : نَحْنُ الْفَرَّارُونَ ! قَالَ : " لَا ، بَلْ أَنْتُمْ الْعَكَّارُونَ ، أَنَا فِئَتُكُمْ ، وَأَنَا فِئَةُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ " ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْنَاهُ حَتَّى قَبَّلْنَا يَدَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once I participated in a jihad with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). During the battle, people became frightened and began to flee; I was among them. Later, we began to wonder what would happen now? We had turned our backs and fled from the battlefield and returned with the wrath of Allah. Then we said, let us go to Madinah and spend the night there. We will present ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). If this is accepted, then very good; otherwise, we will set out again for fighting. So, before the Fajr prayer, we presented ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out of the house and said: "Who are you people?" We replied, "Those who fled." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, rather you are those who return to attack. I am a group among you, and I am a whole group among the Muslims." Then we went forward and kissed the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
