Hadith 5381

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ ، عَنْ وَبَرَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، وَنَحْنُ نَرْجُو أَنْ يُحَدِّثَنَا حَدِيثًا ، أَوْ حَدِيثًا حَسَنًا ، فَبَدَرَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنَّا ، يُقَالُ لَهُ الْحَكَمُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، مَا تَقُولُ فِي الْقِتَالِ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ ؟ قَالَ : ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ ! وَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا الْفِتْنَةُ ؟ ! إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُقَاتِلُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ، فَكَانَ الدُّخُولُ فِيهِمْ أَوْ فِي دِينِهِمْ فِتْنَةً ، وَلَيْسَ كَقِتَالِكُمْ عَلَى الْمُلْكِ ! ! " .
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to us. We hoped that he would narrate excellent hadiths to us, but before he could, a man—whose name was Hakam—spoke up and said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! What is your opinion about fighting during the days of tribulation (fitnah)?" He replied, "May your mother weep for you! Do you know what fitnah is? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fight the polytheists, and entering among them or into their religion was fitnah. It was not like today, when you fight for the sake of government."
