Hadith 5335

(حديث مرفوع) قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى بُصَاقًا فِي جِدَارِ الْقِبْلَةِ ، فَحَكَّهُ ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَبْصُقَنَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ إِذَا صَلَّى " ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : بُصَاقًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw some spit on the direction of the qiblah in the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and cleaned it, then turned towards the people and said: "When any one of you is in prayer, Allah is in front of his face, so none of you should spit in front of his face during his prayer."
