Muslim bin Yanaq, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I was sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, in the gathering of Banu Abdullah when a young man from the Quraysh passed by with his lower garment hanging below his ankles. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, called him and asked: "Which family do you belong to?" He said: "Banu Bakr." He said: "Do you wish that Allah looks upon you with mercy on the Day of Resurrection?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Raise your lower garment. I have heard with these two ears of mine Abu al-Qasim (the Prophet), peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'Whoever drags his lower garment on the ground out of arrogance, Allah will not look upon him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection.'"
