(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَيْمَنَ يَسْأَلُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، وَأَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ يَسْمَعُ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : " قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ سورة الطلاق آية 1 فِي قُبُلِ عِدَّتِهِنَّ .
Abdur Rahman bin Ayman (may Allah have mercy on him) once asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the issue of divorce during menstruation. Abu Az-Zubair was listening to this conversation. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of Surah Al-Ahzab in this way: "O Prophet! When you people want to divorce your wives, then divorce them at the beginning of their waiting period" (meaning to divorce them in the days of purity, not during menstruation).
