It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! The deeds that we do, have they already been written or do our actions come first?" He replied, "No! Rather, they have already been written. Therefore, O Ibn Khattab! Continue to act, because for every person, the means for which he was created are provided, and that deed is made easy for him. Thus, if he is among the people of happiness, he does the deeds of the happy ones, and if he is among the people of wretchedness, he does the deeds of the wretched ones."
