Hadith 5122

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا الْأَزْدِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى " ، وَكَانَ شُعْبَةُ يَفْرَقُهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The voluntary prayers of the night and day are (to be offered) two by two (rak‘ahs)."
