Hadith 5041

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ خُبَيْبٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَ " يُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ السَّفَرِ يَعْنِي رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، وَعُثْمَانَ سِتَّ سِنِينَ مِنْ إِمْرَتِهِ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he performed prayers in Mina with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with the two Shaykhs (may Allah be pleased with them), and also for six years with Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him); all of them used to perform the travelers’ prayer, that is, two rak‘ahs. Later, Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) started performing the complete prayer.
