Hadith 5037

Jabalah says that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) used to give us dates to eat. At that time, people were facing extreme difficulties. One day, we were eating dates when Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed by us and said: "Do not eat several dates at once, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating several dates at once without your brother's permission." Imam Shu'bah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "In my opinion, the statement about permission is the speech of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both)."
