Hadith 5011

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ تَحْتِي امْرَأَةٌ أُحِبُّهَا ، وَكَانَ عُمَرُ يَكْرَهُهَا ، فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُطَلِّقَهَا ، فَأَبَيْتُ ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ امْرَأَةً كَرِهْتُهَا لَهُ ، فَأَمَرْتُهُ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَهَا ، فَأَبَى ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، " طَلِّقْ امْرَأَتَكَ " ، فَطَلَّقْتُهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: The wife I had, I loved her very much, but Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked her. He said to me, "Divorce her." I hesitated in divorcing her, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The woman who is in the marriage of Abdullah bin Umar, I do not like her. I tell him to divorce her, but he does not listen to me." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me, "Abdullah! Divorce your wife." So I divorced her.
