Hadith 5007

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي غَنِيَّةَ ، أخبرنا أَبُو جَنَابٍ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَئِنْ تَرَكْتُمْ الْجِهَادَ ، وَأَخَذْتُمْ بِأَذْنَابِ الْبَقَرِ ، وَتَبَايَعْتُمْ بِالْعِينَةِ ، لَيُلْزِمَنَّكُمْ اللَّهُ مَذَلَّةً فِي رِقَابِكُمْ ، لَا تَنْفَكُّ عَنْكُمْ حَتَّى تَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَتَرْجِعُوا عَلَى مَا كُنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you abandon jihad, become occupied with holding the tails of cows, and become engrossed in buying fine and luxurious things, then Allah will send calamities upon you, and He will not remove them until you repent and return to your religion."
