Hadith 5006

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الطَّائِفِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِقْدَامِ بْنِ وَرْدٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ " طَافَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، فَلَمْ يَرْمُلْ ، فَقُلْتُ : لِمَ تَفْعَلُ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، كُلًّا قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَ ، رَمَلَ وَتَرَكَ " .
Abdullah bin Maqdam (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I saw Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) walking at a normal pace between Safa and Marwah during Sa'i, so I asked him: O Abu Abdur Rahman! Why are you not walking fast? He replied: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sometimes walked fast here and sometimes did not.
