Hadith 5002

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِثَوْبِي ، أَوْ بِبَعْضِ جَسَدِي ، وَقَالَ : يا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، " كُنْ كَأَنَّكَ غَرِيبٌ أَوْ عَابِرُ سَبِيلٍ ، وَعُدَّ نَفْسَكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُبُورِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, once held my garment or a part of my body and said: "O Abdullah! Live in this world as if you are a traveler or a passerby, and count yourself among the dead."
