Hadith 4988

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ حَدِيثِ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُضْرَبُونَ إِذَا ابْتَاعُوا الطَّعَامَ جُزَافًا أَنْ يَبِيعُوهُ حَتَّى يُؤْوُوهُ إِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I have seen, in the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), people were beaten for buying grain by estimation and then selling it to someone else at the same place while still standing there, until they had taken it to their own tent.
