Hadith 4987

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الْفَجْرَ ، فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The night prayer is offered in sets of two rak'ahs. When the time of dawn approaches, then add one rak'ah to them and perform witr."
