Hadith 4979

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي حَنْظَلَةُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : وَأَتَاهُ أُسَامَةُ وَقَدْ لَبِسَهَا ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِي ، قَالَ : " شَقِّقْهَا بَيْنَ نِسَائِكَ خُمُرًا ، أَوْ اقْضِ بِهَا حَاجَتَكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing a silk garment. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he said, "You are the one who made me wear it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tear it and distribute it as head coverings among your women, or fulfill your need with it."
