Hadith 4975

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، سَمِعْتُ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ الْجُمَحِيَّ ، سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَأَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ أَحَدِكُمْ قَيْحًا خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "For one of you to have his stomach filled with vomit is better than to have it filled with poetry."
