Hadith 4884

Zaid bin Aslam (may Allah have mercy on him) says that my father Aslam sent me to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). When I reached his house, I said, "May I come in?" He recognized my voice and said, "Son, when you go to someone, first say 'Assalamu Alaikum.' If he replies to your greeting, then ask, 'May I come in?'" Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) saw his son, who was coming with his lower garment dragging on the ground. He said to him, "Raise your trousers. I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever drags his clothes on the ground out of pride, Allah will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection."
