Hadith 4880

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " مَنْ احْتَكَرَ طَعَامًا أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً ، فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ، وَبَرِئَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى مِنْهُ ، وَأَيُّمَا أَهْلُ عَرْصَةٍ أَصْبَحَ فِيهِمْ امْرُؤٌ جَائِعٌ ، فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُمْ ذِمَّةُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever hoards food necessities for forty days, he is free from Allah and Allah is free from him, and if there is even one hungry person in a family, Allah's responsibility is free from all of them."
