(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ مَثَلَ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَثَلُ شَجَرَةٍ لَا يَسْقُطُ وَرَقُهَا ، فَمَا هِيَ ؟ " قَالَ : فَقَالُوا وَقَالُوا ، فَلَمْ يُصِيبُوا ، وَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَقُولَ : هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ ، فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among the trees, there is a tree which is like a Muslim (can you tell which tree that is?)" People presented their own opinions, and I wanted to say that it is the date-palm tree, but then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself said that it is the date-palm tree.
